Today your student will be introduced to the project and its specifics. I will show them a mock cookbook page made with the American tradition of Thanksgiving. They will come home understanding that this cookbook page must include:
-The chosen recipe
-History of the recipe
-Tradition(s) related to it
-Facts about the culture/background
-History of ingredients
-Put pictures up if students made it at home
There will be an electronic, as well as a hard, copy of the project guidelines and expectations available to both you and your student. On the bottom of this worksheet I have included my email so you can contact me with any questions along the way.
**Tonight's Homework: Your student is to start researching recipes that they could use to represent their country and the tradition. The tradition should be the first step, then they should see if a recipe or food is associated with this. I am hoping that you could offer advise and guidance along the way. Researching something can be frustrating and discouraging if your student doesn't find what they are looking for the first time. Encouraging a job well done or suggesting alternative search ideas will keep them on track.
